Psycho & Bates Motel.

Bates Motel, TV

Before we started watching this fairly new show, we saw Hitchcock’s Psycho. That was my first time seeing the movie. It was creepy & interesting! Just like Bates Motel. I especially like how the show has recreated the eerie house on the hill.

The gist:
“After the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start. Her handsome and shy teenage son Norman (Freddie Highmore) quickly catches the eyes of the local girls, much to his mother’s horror. Norma and Norman soon discover the idyllic town isn’t what it seems, and the locals will do anything to protect their secret.” -Amazon.com

Why People Procrastinate + A Prescription for Procrastinators, from The Feeling Good Handbook.

why people procrastinate

Do you intentionally & habitually put things off?

Why do you think that is?

Is it lack of motivation or, do you just not feel like doing specific tasks?

The Feeling Good Handbook, Book
I shared my thoughts on this huge book here. So, I’m not reviewing it so much as discussing a few chapters that have particularly caught my interest. Like, Chapter 9: Why People Procrastinate, and Chapter 10: A Prescription for Procrastinators.

Chapter 8 (Cognitive Therapy in Action: How to Break Out of a Bad Mood) was the first chapter I covered. If you missed it, you can read up here!

Celebrity Apprentice: Why are they getting on Gary? Leave him alone!

all-star celebrity apprentice

All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, TV

There’s a lull in our list of good television shows to watch right now.

While we patiently await the return of Game of Thrones and Mad Men (and hang on to the edge of the couch for the last few episodes of The Walking Dead), we’ve started watching All-Star Celebrity Apprentice. We’re pretty sure it’s scripted “reality TV”, nevertheless, we’re really enjoying it, so far. We only wish they’d stop calling Gary Busey out as the weakest member of team Plan B.
I mean…for goodness sake, they made him cry!

I like Gary, he’s funny. Omorosa & Dennis cracks us up too. And, I just love to listen to Trace talk. His voice…

P.S.
I’ve discovered that The Walking Dead character I’m most like is…Merle. Ha! If you watch the show & like fun, personality quiz’s, take this one! Husband “Dead Myself” with this app. Yes, I’m a major fan of this show! :)

Cognitive therapy methods for common bad moods

Inferiority. Insecurity. Irritability. Frustration. Guilt. Stress.

Have you ever felt these feelings before?

Grab a nice cup of coffee. Or tea. ‘Tis a rather long, but hopefully helpful post!

Elementary School Nostalgia.

Pencil Sharpener

I shared this photo not too long ago on Instagram. I was at my nephew’s wrestling tournament, at a local high school.

Seeing this item made me smile.

It reminded me of my little, elementary school, self. How I’d get up from my desk & walk over to where ever this hung from the wall. Not at all because I needed to use it (most times), but because I prayed my crush(whom ever it was at the time) would notice me.

Funny!

Do you have a memory involving this item?

The lights dimmed. Silence. Then, all we heard was this voice. Singing. Emerging from behind us. Obehi whisked past us, and took the stage.

“Circle of Life”.

Yes. She had me with The Lion King.

After her very nice rendition of the song, she went on to tell us why & how much she hated The Lion King growing up. Now that was super unexpected and funny because, most kids (points to self), and even some adults loved that movie when it first came out.

Fufu and Oreos, by Obehi Janice
“When Obehi is diagnosed with clinical depression, she begins to wonder if she’s BLACK enough, NIGERIAN enough, and has enough faith. With inventive prose and incredible wit, FUFU & OREOS stakes a claim for the power of voice in our search for self.” – fufuandoreos.com
