The Boys of My Youth by Jo Ann Beard

So far, so good!

Here’s the gist:
The Boys of My Youth, by Jo Ann Beard
“The author writes with perfect pitch as she takes us through one woman’s life – from childhood to marriage & beyond – & memorably captures the collision of youthful longing & the hard intransigences of time & fate.”

What are you reading right now?

Book Review: Fifty Shades of Grey.

Fifty Shades of Gray Review

“Fifty Shades” is a quick & easy read. I could’ve of made a pun there, but…moving on!

The language used when describing sex was…tasteful. You will not find the more vulgar words for vagina and penis. Instead the author uses words like “there” and “sex“.

The book had a nice balance between sexual/romantic situations, and non-sexual/romantic situations. Meaning that it didn’t linger too long on the latter. As an erotic romance, this is appreciated. Readers want to read about sex & the relationship(s) involved around it. Not super long descriptions and the superfluous interactions with (and of) those not involved. While it’s certainly necessary for a good, sound novel, it’s not always desirable from the perspective of those wanting to read an erotic story.

If you haven’t read Fifty Shades of Grey, here’s the gist:

Soft porn.

Just kidding. But, not really!

Why People Procrastinate + A Prescription for Procrastinators, from The Feeling Good Handbook.

why people procrastinate

Do you intentionally & habitually put things off?

Why do you think that is?

Is it lack of motivation or, do you just not feel like doing specific tasks?

The Feeling Good Handbook, Book
I shared my thoughts on this huge book here. So, I’m not reviewing it so much as discussing a few chapters that have particularly caught my interest. Like, Chapter 9: Why People Procrastinate, and Chapter 10: A Prescription for Procrastinators.

Chapter 8 (Cognitive Therapy in Action: How to Break Out of a Bad Mood) was the first chapter I covered. If you missed it, you can read up here!

Currently Reading: The Feeling Good Handbook + Thoughts on The Great Gatsby.

feeling good book

The Feeling Good Handbook was a great choice for my next read, as The Great Gatsby made me a little sad.

I mean…

Who hasn’t changed themselves (in some trivial way) in the hopes of winning the heart, or good opinions of another?

Besides this, I honestly found the book a little difficult to follow. It’s under 200 pages (I think) but, it felt much longer.

ATTENTION! Semi-spoilers when you read ahead…
