Confidence and Being.

A few of you have expressed interest in my experiences with personal growth, progresses with goals and such.

I’m happy to share with you and, hopefully get back to doing these types of posts more regularly. I see how they can help but…MAN, this was hard to write!

What began as a quick update, resulted in…something deeper.

Sharing where I am now (finally over the “mountain top”) kinda meant referring back to some stuff that affected me years and years ago (the “stones along the climb” up).

Feel free to share your thoughts, personal progresses and lessons learned too.

I’m all ears!

LOL Much?

LOL

How do you feel about messages containing abbreviations/”Internet Slang” and emoticons?

Do you only type “LOL” when you’ve actually laughed out loud? Is it more of an automatic response to something you think funny?

Do you avoid using LOL and smilie faces all together? If so, why?

Bye-Bye Twitter & Facebook.

So. I’ve made a choice. Finally.

I chose Google+ and Pinterest. Or, as I inherently call it, Pin-interest.

Outside the blog, those will be my sole social media outlets. At this time.

I’m in the process of closing out the Facebook page and Twitter. Thanks again for following there!

Are You Overwhelmed?

I read this very interesting article on NPR awhile ago.

It asks an intriguing question.

“Are you overwhelmed?”

Today, I felt a weight being lifted off of me as I deleted the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram apps from my cell phone. I was beginning to feel bogged-down by feeling the need to be “connected” everywhere. More than that, I think it was the 366 photos sitting on my phone’s camera roll. Patiently waiting to be “Instagrammed”.
I digress.

Can it be that it was all so simple then?

The article mentions the days when people didn’t worry or feel guilty about eating baloney & Wonder bread. Now we’re all “horty-torty”, shopping at the farmer’s market (well–that’s the general notion I got from reading it)! It also said that we simply have too many options, are exposed to way too much information, and feel like we need to perfect every aspect of our lives; and, that’s why we feel overwhelmed these days.

Do you agree? What is making you feel overwhelmed?

Social Media and The Idea of Being Omni-Present.

It seems that there is an unspoken rule that Bloggers must have a presence on almost every social media platform.

Facebook. Twitter. Pinterest. Instagram. Google+. Tumblr…

Do you think it’s helpful to have an account on every major outlet for your blog? Or, inefficient?

I’m leaning towards the latter.

Hey Email Subscribers!

MailChimp Switch

If you’re following MerelyMarie via email, you may have noticed a few changes.

That’s because, I’ve recently made the switch from Feedburner to MailChimp. Both services provide email subscription (blog post) delivery.

Feedburner has been pretty good, as far as delivering my blog posts to you in a timely manner, but the customization of the aesthetics were limited. So far, I like the looks of MailChimp better. How about you?

Why People Procrastinate + A Prescription for Procrastinators, from The Feeling Good Handbook.

why people procrastinate

Do you intentionally & habitually put things off?

Why do you think that is?

Is it lack of motivation or, do you just not feel like doing specific tasks?

The Feeling Good Handbook, Book
I shared my thoughts on this huge book here. So, I’m not reviewing it so much as discussing a few chapters that have particularly caught my interest. Like, Chapter 9: Why People Procrastinate, and Chapter 10: A Prescription for Procrastinators.

Chapter 8 (Cognitive Therapy in Action: How to Break Out of a Bad Mood) was the first chapter I covered. If you missed it, you can read up here!
