Skin Talk: Update & Regimen + CeraVe Cleanser, Lotions, and Cream Review.

Review CeraVe

I’ve been getting compliments on how “soft” my skin feels.

Growing up with terrible eczema, that is something I’d never thought I’d hear. My hands especially were rough, with big, thick patches of eczema that resembled alligator skin.

I grew out of it, thank goodness. But. Not without scars. ”Childhood eczema”, they called it. What torture.

Today, for the most part, my skin is just prone to dryness. To keep it soft & supple, I try my best to moisturize regularly. Especially after being in water.

3 Drugstore Skincare Brands.

Even though there were plenty moments this summer when I felt like it…I didn’t give up on my (facial) skin.

I’ve tried more products than I’d like to, and wasted enough moolah in the process.

Having tried Aveeno, Neutrogena, and Cetaphil this year, I thought I’d share a few quick thoughts on them.

For reference, my skin is:
• Dry
• Oily
• Acne-prone
• And super sensitive (which always makes me nervous to try anything new)

Skin Regimen Update.

So…it’s almost July. & I thought I’d update on my facial regimen. Well…face, neck & shoulders regimen. I try to treat those areas the same. Fingers crossed for even results in tonality & texture!

Anywhoo…
Here’s what I’ve been using:

Topicals

  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser – I’ve been using this since about April, I think. The first night I used it, I saw a difference in my skin. My face looked smooth & polished. So, I kept using it. Now that summer is about to begin, I’ve noticed that I don’t really need a moisturizer after using this. It’s pretty moisturizing on it’s own. I’m not sure my face feels “clean” after using this though. Just moisturized. I may have to try Aveeno’s foam cleanser.
  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer – I’ve been using this since February. It wasn’t really moisturizing enough for winter use, but worked great for me during the spring time. It’s very light, and didn’t leave me greasy.

Vitamins & Supplements

  • Nature Made Multi liquid SoftGels – These are much, much better for me than the Women’s One-A-Day multi-vitamin. I take them with dinner, and am able to sleep peacefully through the night. No disturbing stomach rumbles! :D
  • Nature Made Burp-less Fish Oil liquid SoftGels – I’ve been taking these for awhile. They’re fine, minus the hugeness of the capsules. I have to take them one at a time, so I don’t choke to death. I wouldn’t say they are completely “burp-less” though.

I think my skin was at it’s best April-May. I was getting pimples here & there, but I definitely saw improvements in my skin tone & texture using Aveeno & at the time, Dark Spot Corrector. I continued to use it for 4 more weeks after my review, so as not to waste my money. The dark spots were still present, but I think the product did do SOMETHING for my tone. If it weren’t so greasy & stinky, I’d probably still use it.

Within the past few weeks, I started doing too much & too little. Switching products. Going on vacation & drinking less water. Skipping taking vitamins.
And maybe it’s been the change in seasons…

Whatever the reason, I’m suffering an acne break out now. No real pimples, just a bunch of tiny bumps.

I’m trying to get back on track with this regimen. I know consistency is key. Along with sleep & water.

Review: Garnier Skin Renew Clinical Dark Spot Corrector, Before & After.

I have dark spots as a result of adult acne. I’ve been applying this dark spot corrector as my daily moisturizer (for 4 weeks, today), to my face, neck & chest.

For reference, my skin is oily, dry, acne-prone, and super sensitive.

On the Garnier Skin Renew Clinical Dark Spot Corrector box, the product claims the following:
Results
Instantly: Skin looks brighter and more even toned.
In 4 Weeks: Discolorations and spots fade.
In 8 Weeks: Size & intensity of spots are diminished.

I did not experience the “instant results”, however, having used this everyday for 4 weeks, I should see some fading. Let’s find out…

Developing a Skin Regimen: Update

So, I’m still working on this new skin regimen, and I got some new products to try.

Updates

These did not work for me, so I stopped using them on my face & neck:
• Aloe vera gel. It’s not moisturizing enough to use solely as a moisturizer. After cleansing & moisturizing, my skin felt really cool & clean, but it looked dry. The dry spots especially looked ashy.
• Vitamin E oil. I couldn’t continue using this to fade my acne scars. The oil seemed to be fueling more acne to show up.
So as not to waste my $, I’ve been using the Vitamin E oil after applying my regular body moisturizer. It better agrees with my body skin, than my face. The Aloe vera gel, I might try in my hair.

I think I was overusing the St. Ives Green Tea Scrub. After 2 weeks of using it daily, I noticed a difference in my skin texture. It had less dry patches, but also seemed a bit “scratchy”? I don’t know. I can’t explain it well. In any case, I switched to using it twice a week & all was well.

Favorite Drugstore Lip Balm.

Love this lip balm by Neutrogena!!! It glides on smooth, moisturizes my lips (& has yet to irritate my finicky skin…been using this for several months now) and it doesn’t feel “waxy”.
