So…What’s been going on with your hair?
I feel like I’ve been doing a lot – yet very little – with mine these past few months.
I’ve colored my hair twice, had it cut/trimmed a couple times, and the sides shaved down at least once every 2 weeks. But style wise, it’s been much of the same. Blow outs, a few twist outs and a ton of wash & go’s.
After coloring it Chestnut Brown (and not loving the reddish results), I decided against going any lighter. Didn’t want to chance even redder results.
I did go with SheaMoisture Hair Color System again – but this time in Jet Black – thinking I would not be let down.
I was wrong.
This Jet Black bled. A lot. It stained my pillow case & the protective cover with purple flecks! 🙁
I made sure to follow the box instructions and, I rinsed the color out of my hair for what felt like an eternity. Still, the water ran a faint purplish color over the following weeks when I washed my hair.
Overall, I was pleased that my hair was no longer red, but I doubt I’d buy this color again.
My sister cuts/trims my hair on occasion when it’s straight. That is something in all the years of doing my own hair, I can not do.
She lifts sections of my hair in the air, lets the length glide between her fingers and, snip, snip, snip!
I’m always amazed because, if I were to try this myself (and I have a few times), I’d be sure to end up with an uneven hacked job. When she does it, the results are always nicely layered and my ends feel sharp.
Now shaving, I have become pretty good at!
But, it’s not that hard. Lol
I just make sure to use two mirrors. Always start clockwise around my head, shaving straight down in sections. Kinda like mowing a lawn. Then, I adjust the clippers (for the closest shave) to take off more towards the edges, for more of a tapered shave look.
To avoid razor bumps & ingrown hairs, I’ve been using SheaMoisture After Shave elixirs. For a long while, I used my Husband’s elixir (blue bottle). It wasn’t until a few months ago that I discovered that SheaMoisture had an elixir for women (purple bottle), and it had a spray nozzle! So far it’s been working just as well for me. No bumps or ingrown hair. Found it at Target.
It’s been about 2 years now since I first got my hair shaved and, I still like it.
The only style that makes me want to grow my hair out is the pixie cut (I had one, for like an 1/8 of a day). Ideally, this would be my next hair style. Only, I have no idea how I would maintain that look on a daily basis sans relaxer.
