The Jungle Book came to Chicago this summer. The musical was based on the Disney movie and the stories by Rudyard Kipling.
My husband and I went to see it and we had a good time. Normally I don’t care for musicals but, I really enjoy going to the theater and The Lion King performance was MAGICAL when it was in town.
This was our first time visiting the Goodman Theatre. The performance stage room was smaller than we anticipated but, it wasn’t a bad thing at all. The lighting was warm. The seats were cozy (even though our seats were towards the back–Row N–we had a good, close view of the stage. I can’t imagine that there was a bad floor seat in the house). It was a very intimate atmosphere. Perfect for a date night with your honey! I look forward to seeing more shows there in the future.
As far as the performance, Baloo was funny. The elephants were enjoyable and, Louie and the monkeys were fantastic!
I couldn’t remember seeing the Disney movie before but, we watched it the very next day at home. The musical was pretty true to the movie, with some very enchanting additions.
I’m always amazed at the costumes and set designs of plays. What the performers do on stage…is just impressive!
Have you seen The Jungle Book? What was your last theatre experience?
