It seems that there is an unspoken rule that Bloggers must have a presence on almost every social media platform.
Facebook. Twitter. Pinterest. Instagram. Google+. Tumblr…
Do you think it’s helpful to have an account on every major outlet for your blog? Or, inefficient?
I’m leaning towards the latter.
What is a “presence”, really?
Is it merely having accounts and showing up every now & again to link to your blog posts? Is it sharing more of yourself, engaging with your readers, fellow Bloggers and others online? Perhaps a perfect combo of both?
I think it’s impossible to make a meaningful impact (and connection with people) across all social media platforms, while simultaneously promoting your awesome-ness! Unless, you enjoy spreading yourself thin and don’t plan on sleeping. Or, you have an assistant.
It feels too much of a hassle trying to “keep up” an omni-presence online, no?
Whenever I feel bogged-down, I know it’s time to simplify. So. I may be deactivating a few accounts soon. Outside of the blog, I think one or two social media outlets would be just right for me.
