Mondays are legs & butt. Wednesdays are abs & core. And Fridays, are arms.
I’ve started exercising (at the crack–no, because 5:30AM, for me, is well before the crack of dawn), with Husband. It really helps having someone more experienced than you, to hold you accountable. I’m pretty good with self-accountability in many things. Working out is certainly not one of them! He assured me that the motivation (and continued motivation) comes from having a purpose.
My purpose is to get toned, loose my belly “pooch” (that makes it rather uncomfortable to button my pants after a good meal), and just feel healthier. With more zest!
Getting started felt tremendously hard. I didn’t want to exercise. At all. Still, I knew I had to do something. Saying “Let’s go!” instead of “I don’t want to.” helps. Even if there’s a “Let’s hurry up & get this over with!” attached.
Push-ups & ab crunches kill me. I try to push through them but, I don’t make it very far past “the burn”. Even screaming, “I’m a Beast!” (Clay Matthews) doesn’t help. That deep burning sensation…it hurts! I haven’t exercised (consistently) in years. I hear exercise routines get easier the more you do them. I sure hope so. I’d love to be able to do those fancy (one leg crunch-up) push-ups like Michonne from The Walking Dead!
We purchased some weights. I’m starting with 5 pounds. Husband has 20’s. But other than that, we use what we have. The living room floor, an old sheet (to avoid stepping on the carpet with “outside shoes”), and an app called “Workouts FREE”.
I will say…the results were almost immediate. Not externally but, mood wise. The first day we started, I felt so much natural energy & sunshine in my heart that lasted throughout my entire day. I also got a lot of work accomplished. The next day, was a day-off (Thursday) and it felt sluggish. That natural zest & pep that I felt the day before, just wasn’t there.
What’s your exercise routine? Are you seeing results?
Watch out for the “guns”…cause, they’ll get ya!
