Hair: 3 Tips for better Transitioning Braid Outs.

8 months post relaxer (photo)

98% of the time, I wore my hair in the braid out style during my transition.

It just worked.

Here are my top 3 tips for awesome results!

Tip #1: Less Product.

Tip #1: Less product & oils.
Too much styling product or oil can weigh hair down & make it look greasy. Deep condition before braiding for moisture, and use light-weight products for styling. (For your reference, I liked using Giovanni’s Smooth as Silk Leave-in Conditioner. It was very light, and added a bit of volume. I also used Jane Carter Nourish & Shine, for super shiny hair.) If the braided texture quickly falls flat, try to find a styling cream that offers a light hold.

Tip #2: The Honeycomb Part.

Tip #2: Imagine how a honeycomb looks.
Then, use those lines as a blue print when sectioning hair to braid. This better disguises parts. Which makes for less combing & fluffing after unraveling the braids.

Tip #3: Satin Foam Rollers.

Tips #3: Rollers!
Roll the ends of each braid with a roller. For greater texture, wrap the ends around 2-3 times before rolling up the braid. The higher up you go, the shorter & curlier the result.
