I have a handful of flowery, ruffly clothing, that I no longer feel excited about wearing.
“Cutesy” stuff from J.Crew & Anthropologie.
Stuff that I’ve past over this summer (& probably the last), when deciding what to wear.
How did that happen?!
I used to love a good “fluffle”.
I thought it time to get rid of those items.
Until.
I tried them on.
Still…I might bag them up to give away or sell.
My goal is to continue building my ideal “grown woman” wardrobe:
- Blouses.
- Pencil skirts.
- Kitten-heels & pumps.
- And, timeless leather goods.
I will forever love wearing these classics.
But.
My current style seems to lie right outside the borders of “Frillyland”. Entering “Masculine Comfort Zone”. And turning left at “EdgyTown”.
Right now, I’m really liking oxford shoes, rugged-looking boots, button-down plaid shirts, and animal prints.
Things I would’ve never touched 4 years ago.
What’s your current style?
Is it taking a new route, or are you building a wardrobe of staples?

I love this look on you very pretty!
Thank you!
This might not be considered ‘grown women’ but how about ‘fun woman?’ I like it, a lot. That top has personality!
LOL Yes, it kinda reminds me of a leis!
I have those shorts & I love them!!! I think you look very “grown woman” and cute!
Sweet! Thank you!
This is my first time commenting though i’ve been following your blog for some months now from london. I love it. I really like your top i would wear it (i’m no spring chicken), i feel it’s something you could dress up as well as down to encompass many looks. I also love your shoes, could you tell me where they are from?
Thank you Maria! Glad you are enjoying the blog, and I appreciate you commenting!
The shoes are Hispanitas. I got them from Nordstrom Rack some years ago.
I’m currently changing my style as well, going from ‘prim and lady-like’ (lots of skirts, dresses, cardies) to something altogether more ‘edgy’ (skinny jeans, ankle boots and I haven’t worn trousers in a decade!). Now, it’s as if the ‘ inner’ and ‘outer’ me are a bit more aligned if that makes sense. Your blog continues to be an inspiration; Individual, elegant and modern!
Thanks for sharing your style change Claire! It sounds like we’re heading in a similar direction.
And I appreciate your kind words about the blog. Thank you!
That is a very nice look!
Thanks!
This outfit is super CUTE! Love it!
Thank you!.
Cute outfit my friend!
Thanks friend!
I am in love with those shorts. They are very cute and perfect for a laid back day on a hot tropical day.
