Get ready…this is like 3-posts-in-1!!!
If you’re following MM via Facebook, then you’ve probably seen a few photos recently, of my flat-ironed hair.
pssst!…
If you didn’t know, there is a MerelyMarie Facebook page…if you’re on Facebook, head on over to the MM page & click Like! Now that I have a smart phone, I’m having fun posting little “at the moment, thoughts & happenings” that might not always make it to the blog. I love reading comments from you & just interacting with everyone on FB, so come join us:)
I’ve been waiting to try Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream since Moptop Maven shared her luscious hair results, a couple years ago.
Why the long wait?
I don’t flat-iron my hair often, and the product (at 21 bucks for a 4oz. bottle) is a bit pricey (especially to be loaded with synthetic ingredients).
Then, this happened…
!!!
!!!
50% off clearance…AND the product looked fresh!
I’ll take it!
I took it.
Some times clearance products don’t look good at all; the ingredients start to change color & separate…just yucky!
My favorite brand, Jane Carter, also had some conditioner on clearance sale.
Double score
I washed my hair & applied a pea-size amount of the glossing cream to it, before blow drying. Next, I added a bit more of the cream to each section, before flat-ironing.
…& Voila!

That was a fun day!!!
On the following one, my hair started to revert & curl back up. I took that opportunity to sport one of my favorite knitted hats…& style 2 french braids in the front of my head.
I manage to keep the flat-ironed hair for about a week, before washing it out. My natural coils made their safe return, with no visible damage.
I maintained this look just by redoing the braids, in the morning.

Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream Review
PROS:
• Smell
Light, pleasant scent. Doesn’t have the “drugstore brand” smell.
• Consistency
Nice & creamy. It doesn’t have so much water in it, that you feel hesitant about following up with the flat-iron.
• Results
Soft, shiny, bouncy hair! My hair didn’t feel weighed down, nor did it have that weird “coated” feeling that some products can leave behind, when straightening.
• Usage
A little goes a long way.
CONS:
• Ingredients
The first ingredient is water. The next three are silicone-based.
If you’re “cone-conscious”, beware.
All things considered, I’d have to say that this product is probably worth the full price tag; especially if you shampoo & wear your hair straight regularly.
Now, I’m curious about the other products in the Fekkai Glossing line…
Here are a few more result photos, taken later that day, with my good camera:
Have you tried Frederic Fekkai glossing cream? Fekkai product line?
Undercuts, pixies, straight faux-hawks, super short tapered ‘fros, (& even buzzed all-the-way to the scalp LOL)…I can not decide!
All I know is that I’m obsessed with really short hair, and have been for months now. The going back & forth is driving me nuts but, I am a very “thorough person” when making most decisions. Ha, ha!
These blogs have been giving me tons of inspiration!

Whoa! Such shine! Healthy looking volume! I really like your hair like this, Marie! Is the Fekkai a heat protectant, or just a moisturizer? I can’t get over how shiny your hair is! Also, I love the braided bang!
Okay… I’m done drooling over your hair now.
Thanks Jhan! The bottle says it’s a styling creme. Nothing about heat protection, but it does say it adds moisture.
I LOVE short hair on women. First – I’m SHOCKED by how long your hair is. Your shrinkage is more than I thought it was. I really love the day 1 look with the swoop bangs – super cute!!!
Love this post! I recently flat ironed my hair for prom…I used CHI Silk Infusion and it gave me great results…you should give it a go!
My mom has super short hair, and she’s about to start transitioning from damages ends to her natural curls…I’ll definitely show her these blogs and your interest photos!
Yes, your hair is so much longer than I thought. Wow you were able to get it really straight. Love the short hair looks you posted as well.
The braid looks really good! love it!

Love your hair! And something about short hair on women…it’s super HOT! I’ve cut my hair hort a couple of times and now that it’s longer again, all I do is gawk at other short-haired ladies. And, you’ll be added to that list! Go for it. You’re beautiful.
The short, straight look on you looks great. It really suits your face

I tried that product in the past on my relaxed hair. Nothing spectacular happened, but I didn’t blow-dry it. Just sat under hair dryer. Now I am natural and have NEVER blowdried my own hair (I lack skills and patience) You got skillz! Yours looks GORG! I too LOVE short hair and have been lusting after yours since you cut it. I am only growing my for locs of love (ever since I found out they take natural hair) but as soon as I can. CHOP, CHOP!!!
That’s awesome that you’re donating your hair!!!
Thanks so much everyone!!! Yes, I have crazy hair “shrinkage”. LOL
Loves it!! you look adorable.. You hair is so thick and the cut is on point.. I may need to try this..
Thanks Nadjah!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE SHORT PIXIE HAIR CUTS AND ALL OF THESE WILL MAKE ME CUT MY HAIR OFF (AGAIN)!!!
I’m really trying to stick it out and let my hair grow out (2 years natural now) but it’s been difficult because I recently moved and the water in my new city is breaking my hair off so I’ve had to resort to cutting it a couple of times (sad face).
Anywho, love the inspirational pix and I love your new do!!!
Thank you! Sorry to hear about the water situation…that sucks. I’m glad this post has brought you some inspiration! Good luck with your hair
