Hair Cut: Straight & Boingy.

If you’ve been on the MM Facebook page lately, you’ve probably seen my latest hair cut.

Husband used his Wahl clippers with a 1-inch guard around the sides & back, then finished with the trimmers around my ears & side burns. I used my Goody hair scissors to cut semi-layers on top.

Not bad for a home, “tag-team” hair cut. Ha!

I was so worried at first, because it was not going good, at all.

First, we tried just using the scissors to cut really short layers all around.
It was a disaster.
The layers looked like a broken, winding road…going up the side of the mountain.

I decided to just go for the look I’ve been craving to have for awhile; shaved-sides & length at the top. I gave him the go ahead to grab the clippers.
He started shaving off 3-4 inches of my hair & looked/sounded so calm doing it. He is not a barber, and wears his head bald. For some reason, I kept wanted him to sigh, or make some kind of noise acknowledging that this “bright idea” I had was a huge mistake.
I heard nothing but “Stop…turn around.” every time I tried to peek in the mirror.
Classic!

When he finally let me look, I couldn’t stop smiling.

These photos were taken the night of the cut.

I wish I could’ve worn it like this longer & had time to play around with styling the top length, but the shaved bits & granules of hair on my neck, started to make me itch.

After a shower & shampoo, I twisted the top section of my hair with Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue.
The next day, I unraveled the twists, and misted the back & sides of my hair with water, before coiling random pieces about my fingers, also using a bit of Miss Jessie’s. I might review this product later…

This was the result…

I went home, to my parent’s house & it took awhile before anyone (except my dad) noticed that they could see my scalp. LOL I guess the change wasn’t as huge as I thought it was.
When my sister realized & made the announcement, everyone “Ahhh’d” & showered me with compliments. The family loved my new look.
& I do too!!!

I think I’m going to keep this one for awhile, because I’m really enjoying it! Thanks Hubby :)

My head feels so much lighter/cooler! I feel edgier; and, I really look forward to washing my hair now. It doesn’t take as long to get all my hair wet & I no longer have to part it with my fingers to get at my scalp :( Not to mention, only having a pinch to detangle is just too easy.

  13. Ooh – this is it. I remember when you first said you would cut it in batches to get it perfect – and this is it! I LOVE IT! (I’m sure I’ll love it if you cut it more – I feel like short hair is addicting – you cut it once, and it just gets easier and easier the next time around). Pinning you now :)

LOL Thank you! & Yes, you’ve described the “short hair cutting experience”, precisely.

It’s funny…my DH was holding the top section of my hair in his hands the next day, saying how he could see me without it. I could see me being “near bald” too, as I’d considered it before this cut…but after that point, I won’t have any hair left to cut. Ha, ha!
      Thanks for the pin :)

  14. I love it!! Yees maam.. Yall did a fantabulous job!! : ) ok, I may need to go for it..
